Purpose:
To guide corporate, proposal, and projects on Functional Safety Management, in collaboration with different departments and process safety section, prevent and mitigate safety-related failures throughout the lifecycle of the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Independently develop and review corporate Safety Instrumented System (SIS) Lifecycle Plan and Functional Safety procedures, and review other corporate standards for consistent application of Functional Safety Management throughout the lifecycle of the fleet/facility.
- Provide functional safety technical expert advice at a corporate and global level based on MODEC and industry standards, considering the entire lifecycle of the facility.
- Prepare and review SIS lifecycle Plan and other SIL-related documents e.g. SRS
- Develop scope of work, perform technical bid evaluation for functional safety consultants, participate in HAZOP and LOPA workshops, plan, review, and deliver functional safety studies/deliverables.
- Attend workshops for the definition of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs), communicate SIL requirements for SCEs that are part of the SIS, review SCE design, manage the tracking and review of EPCI assurance tasks to ensure that SIS is designed, procured, constructed, commissioned, and installed in accordance with performance standards
- Coordinate and manage functional safety consultants/ subcontractors to ensure the facility’s SIS is properly assessed in accordance with the scope of work and methodology, in a timely manner and on budget
- Instruct and guide engineers to collect SIL classification data. Perform SIL verification, prepare deliverables, review other discipline deliverables, and
collaborate with other disciplines and departments. - Comply with MODEC Group Policy, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics at all times.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Safety Engineering. Minimum 18 years of relevant working experience in Functional Safety in the oil and gas sector.
- Functional Safety professional certification such as exida Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE), TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, or an equivalent is highly preferred
