Role Purpose

With minimal guidance, to prepare the basic structural engineering deliverables for the assigned project as per the specified technical requirements, timelines and budget, and to understand basic engineering issues and resolve them.

Key Accountabilities

  • Understands the basic technical specifications and requirements of the assigned project and applicable Industry Standards, Class and Regulatory requirements
  • Designs structures with proper concept & scantlings, and prepares CAD drawings or guides designers to prepare the drawings correctly
  • Creates structural analysis model using SAC/Staad.Pro or FEM software, performs analysis and prepares calculation report for in-house design work
  • Reviews engineering sub-contractor's analysis model and calculations, performs quality checks, optimisation study and coordinate with sub­ contractor for further design improvements
  • Independently performs simple structural calculation using excel sheet or hand calculations for local structures (padeyes, stiffeners, simple beams, pipe supports etc.) and prepares the calculation report
  • Independently prepares MTO & WCR for in-house design structures, reviews/verifies MTO/WCR prepared by engineering subcontractor, consolidates weights and prepares overall WCR for topsides/overall FPSO
  • Independently prepares structural RFQs documentations for structural packages (lifting davit, plastic wood , safety gears & elastomeric bearings)
  • Coordinates on engineering progress monitoring, delay catch up for both in-house and sub-contractor engineering work with technical support to expedite
  • Reviews vendor's/contractor's structural related interface document and disseminates the information to the relevant team members or engineering contractors

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil / Structural / Mechanical / Ship Building Engineering with 5 years relevant working experience as stated below
  • Basic use of analysis software such as SACS, Staad.Pro, FEMAP-Nastran or other FEM softwares
