Purpose:
To understand the design philosophy of the project, and to prepare necessary engineering deliverables for Telecommunication, and manage the deliverables within the stipulated deadline. Resolve all technical issues and/ or provide alternate solution, including liaison with the Client and vendors to meet optimize requirement of the system, according to international & local statutory regulations.
Requirements:
- To understand the main scope, Client and Project specifications and international & local statutory regulation of the assigned project's country of operation. Act and work independently on technical matters, and good liaison with site teams.
- Prepare RFQs for Telecommunication packages for internal review by Lead Engineer, develop engineering block diagram or specifications for inclusion to the RFQs, as required. Capture lessons learnt for the project, covering system design improvements.
- Complies with the MODEC HSSEQ Code of Conduct as described in the HSSEQ Policies, and the HSEQ Procedures to protect people and the environment at all times. Has a duty of care to ensure that all personnel work safely.
- Complies with MODEC Group's Code of Business Conduct & Ethics and Policies to ensure business activities and decisions conform to the laws and regulations and demonstrates high standard of ethical behaviour.
- Development and review of documents including drawings to ensure requirements of specified telecom discipline are met in delivery of the project.
- Evaluate bids received from various suppliers, ensuring equipment supplies are meeting design concept and suitability to use at the selected installation location, and its delivery lead time with respect to the project schedule.
- Responsible to review and provide necessary comments for the submitted vendor design doc., evaluate the requirement as per the project telecom philosophy, ensure selected vendors meet technical/engineering and delivery requirements as stipulated.
- Conducts technical meeting with vendors, to finalize system design and function as per project requirement. If necessary, assist vendors in resolving technical issues such as third parties interfaces to help earliest completion on detailed engineering.
- To ensure required information is communicated between all parties and work is compliant with quality standards.
- To ensure meetings are conducted smoothly and effectively with required minutes prepared as required.
- Review progress and escalate major issues to Lead Engineer and/or Project Engineering Manager when exceeded level best, if the issue is affecting project schedule and further project commitment
- Provide technical support and advice to Construction and Commissioning team at site, attend on site when more in-depth survey require to resolve certain issues
- Provide support whenever necessa ry, and as instructed by the group lead in consulation with the lead engineer.
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Telecom/Electronics Engineering, with 5 years in the offshore industry
- Professional Diploma in Telecom/Electronics Engineering, with 7 years in the offshore industry. Comprehensive experience in handling Telecommunication, Navigation and other related Telecom Safety System in the Marine sector, preferably inclusive of field experience.
